Mayor Ron Meer

I have a legacy of getting things accomplished when no one else could because I believe in collaborating with others to get the job done. If the residents want someone that is on their side, then I am that person. My history and commitment to this city includes my time as a Michigan City Sanitary District employee, Human Rights Commissioner for 6 years, Michigan City Councilman for 8 years, and Mayor of Michigan City from 2012 through 2019. I believe my combined experience of 35 years will be an asset when collaborating with government officials at all levels, with no delays on day one.

Working Across Party Lines For Northwest Indiana Progress

For several years, I have played an integral role in making the South Shore commuter rail double track project a reality in our region. My working relationship with the last two Indiana governors was a successful one. In 2019 Governor Eric Holcomb appointed me to the Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District board of trustees.

PROTECTING OUR NATURAL RESOURCES

I have a strong record of protecting the environment and initiating environmental clean-up projects throughout the region. I believe that protecting Lake Michigan and its tributaries is crucial to the future of Northwest Indiana.
