Proposal for State-of-the-Art Multi-Use Recreational Facility for Youth and Families

Ron Meer has been in previous conversations with the owner of the Marquette Mall campus to explore the redevelopment and economic revitalization of this property. Under Ron Meer’s administration, the Dunes Plaza was redeveloped, and the site now houses Kohls, TJ Maxx, and various other businesses. “During my administration, we brought the Dunes Plaza back to life.  The redevelopment of the Marquette Mall campus is also a prime opportunity for Michigan City to form a public and private sector partnership. TIF dollars are available to use as an incentive to revitalize this campus.”

The Indiana Economic Development Corporation Board recently announced plans to make millions of dollars available across Indiana for cities to invest in various projects. A multi-use recreational facility was discussed as a priority investment opportunity under my administration. The Ron Meer for Mayor campaign proposes using TIF dollars to develop a new multi-use recreational facility for Michigan City youth and families at the Marquette Mall campus.

“Our goal is to provide a welcoming space where people can come together to enjoy various activities and build a stronger, safer, and more connected community. “A recreational facility is vital for enhancing the residents’ quality of life and the revitalization and redevelopment of this campus,” Ron Meer said. “The availability of investment monies from the Indiana Economic Development Corporation Board will support the success of this project.”

Thank You, Ron Meer
